Dr Niharica Raizada as an item girl!

Dr Niharica Raizada, who is a successful practising cardiologist in England and a granddaughter of legendary musician O P Nayyar, has debuted in a hit Bengali romantic comedy 'Damadol' with an item number.

In fact, Niharica has also been signed up for three films by a major Bollywood production house.

When Niharica was asked what made her take an immersion into the world of showbiz, Niharica told at a special screening of 'Damadol' that she don't see why someone pursuing cardiac science cannot take a dive into a creative world while she asks whether these whether these two are incompatible, specially in this age?

To say more, Niharica, who was born in Luxembourg in Europe and studied medicine in London, subsequently specialised in her favourite subject of cardiology at Johns Hopkins (Baltimore), under a Fulbright scholarship. Moreover, Niharica insisting that her sudden attack into the world of performing arts was not a flash-in-the-pan decision and that she had been practising classical dance and ballet from a very young age.

She added that she remember that she was just five when she performed Bharatnatyam dance in Germany but she admit she have uneasy feeling in being an eye candy for the audience and she want to play a today's woman. She also says that after graduating from Johns Hopkins, she had the choice of taking a break from a career in medicine to follow her inner calling in arts and acting and that's what she is doing.

Another matter of fact remains that artistic Niharica's was the former Miss India Worldwide and a former Miss India UK besides being a gifted musician. In fact, she had also walked the ramp at New York Fashion week.

Niharika, who has released an international album in French, expresses while recalling the days when she was visited by her grandfather who taught her not to bother about what others thought and said, and It is OK if she think she is right'.

Niharika showed her keen pursuit about her latest calling and expressed her happiness to be here in the "content-driven film industry" and would like to do roles like the one's portrayed by Vidya Balan or Madhuri Dixit-Nene even though she has reservation over the expression "item dance number". "Just like one can't demean a woman by branding her as an item, her choreographed dance is a work of art. She expresses that Labelling her dance as an item number amounts to an insult and that her song “Garam Cha" does not have provocative postures and she thoroughly enjoyed Apuda's (Saswata Chatterjee of 'Kahaani' fame) steps, which she had to match and that as a senior actor, he accommodated her in more ways than one.

To conclude, Directed by young filmmaker Manoj Michigan, 'Damadol' also stars young Bengali film hero Samadarshi, Saheb Bhattachajee and others.

She is undoubtedly a God gifted talent and hope she continues to fulfill all her dreams in life as nothing matters more than that in life!
