Talking to a magazine from Guangzhou, Southern People Weekly, Jackie Chan made some poorly thought out comments which landed him in trouble and under the supervision of the police. He claimed that fearing trouble from the gangsters in Hong Kong who generally target the celebrities, he would carry guns and grenades to protect himself.
The 58 year old martial artist and Hollywood star said that he was the only one to confront one such situation when the gangsters tried to bully him. "I was at dinner once when more than 20 people with watermelon machetes surrounded me. I had three guns with me and told them that they had gone too far," the magazine wrote quoting him.
He added that he brought two guns and six grenades with him even after. The police are now interested in the story because Chan is a celebrity and his comments would influence people.
They would have to see if the guns are licensed if the story is true. Lack of licenses would mean a serious security breach. If the story is fake, he would be guilty of misleading the audience.
However, Chan tried to defend his story saying that his story was poorly communicated. Poor Jackie doesn't know there is no use defending after the damage has been done.
