The Congress has fielded suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt's wife against Chief Minister Narendra Modi in the coming Gujarat election. Shweta Bhatt will contest from the Maninagar constituency. IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt had alleged Modi's role in the 2002 Gujarat riots.
Earlier, Bhatt was charged by the court for being responsible in the Khambalia custodial death case on November 9. Sanjiv however said that this was a negative tactic of Modi who has targeted him. He also said that Modi managed to eliminate all the evidence that was related to the 2002 Gujarat riots seeking a probe into the issue.
He said he was the victim of the Modi Government for being rebellious and trying to expose. "This is an ongoing process by the Gujarat government against those who stood up to speak against the government," Bhatt added.
