S Ravi, an Industrialist and an active member of IAC, was arrested today after he had tweeted a defamatory post against Union Finance Minister Chidambaram's son Karthi. So much for one post on Twitter, where several members on the site are being victims of harsh criticisms everyday.
Ravi in his tweet accused Karthi of amassing wealth which was more than what Robert Vadra had amassed. AICC president Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra was accused by IAC leader Arvind Kejriwal earlier of being unjustly profited by land deals.
Karthi who felt extremely offended by the slander had lodged a complaint against S Ravi following which he was questioned and arrested within minutes on Tuesday night. Was the arrest only because the complainant was a son of a “big-name”? Several others have made similar tweets in the past but with no response from the police. RGV had become infamous for such tweets earlier but there was no action against him. Is this another example of political injustice?
A case was registered against him under section 66 (1) of Information Technology Act which if proved will lead to a punishment of imprisonment of 3 years or Rs 2 lakh fine or both.
