A possibly inebriated taxi driver in a fit of rage and lust had run his taxi over six people injuring one person seriously.

The taxi driver wanted to avenge the shame he was put to after he attempted the contemptible crime of molesting women on the footpath. He was observed trying to misbehave with women who were sleeping on the footpath and thrashed by the pavement dwellers. He however managed to escape the site in his taxi but it was not all over yet.

He returned in his taxi to run them over to take his revenge. The whole incident started around 1:40 am near the Mahim railway station. Soon after his plot of misbehaving with women was foiled he fled the site in his taxi, took a U-turn near the Mahim railway station end and went on to hit the pavement dwellers and run. He managed to cause serious injuries to Bansi Chouhan who was also at the pavements, discussing the events with the others present there. Two others, Geeta Pamar and her sister Pooja, 20 and 17, were also injurer with fractured ankles.

The Taxi driver managed to escape the place but in the hurry to escape he had crashed into a biker and two more pedestrians near Dadar on Senapati Bapat Marg. The taxi driver is suspected to have been inebriated.

Bansi is in the intensive care unit of Bhabha Hospital, Bandra in critical condition. The unconscious man was on a ventilator too. The two young girls were also being treated for their fractures and other minor injuries as out patients.
The taxi driver was booked under IPC sections 279 (rash driving), 307 (attempt to murder) since he intentionally tried to run over the pavement dwellers and 338 (grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others).
