Tamil Nadu, DMK MP and the face of the party in Delhi, Kanimozhi was earlier nominated to the Parliamentary Standing Committee, for which many threw in criticism. But the brave face of the party answered the press, when questioned that it was customary to be nominated by any MP. And in her case nothing is yet proved against her. On Friday the MP gave a befitting reply to her contemporaries who criticized her appointment. She said, 'every MP is nominated to a committee.' and also added that nothing had been proven against her in the 2G spectrum allocation case.
It may be noted that the MP was alleged to have been involved in the country's largest telecoms scam in allotting 2G Spectrum along with the then Telecoms Minister A Raja. In fact the two out on bail have been appointed to the Parliamentary Committees for Home Affairs and Energy. It may also be noted that another MP, Suresh Kalmadi who is also out on bail in the alleged Common wealth games case, was appointed to the Parliamentary Committees for External Affairs.
Oppositions drew flak over the appointments and flared at the ruling party for not being serious against corruption. However the Congress party rubbished the comments and went on to say that it is the right of a member of Parliament to be on a Committee, whatever may be charges or allegations.
