Priyanka Gandhi had recently made the headlines amidst several speculations and rumors on the internet that she would join politics. The daughter of Sonia Gandhi mentioned that she had no plans to join the politics or the general elections specifically and cleared the speculations making rounds in the media.
"I am not joining politics. I am looking after my mother's constituency as I did from 1999 to 2004 without being in politics," she told a television channel.
She mentioned that she had always looked after her mother's constituency and she would be doing the same now in Rae Bareli and Amethi which were both represented by her mother and brother Rahul, in the Lok Sabha.
"I have been doing so since 1991. As there have been organisational issues lately, I will be travelling to Rae Bareli now and then to look into them,"she said.
Never before had Priyanka spoken outwardly in the public and the intense speculations in the media could have forced her to come out of the shadow and clear the notion that she would not be contesting in the general elections of 2014.
