In what can be considered a good news in the late and scanty monsoons, the rains in the last two weeks had been pretty generous and had brought the water levels in the catchment areas to a good percentage.
The total water storage of the four most important dams in the city which supply the water had been measured at 26.51 TMC which is more than 90% of the total capcity.
Panshet was 98.83% full, Varasgaon 92%, Temghar 83.36% and Khadakwasla 55.55%. Pavana dam, which supplies water to Pimpri-Chinchwad , is filled to capacity.
Officials from the Irrigation department mentioned that all the decisions on water management would be finalized only after september.
11 of the 25 dams in Pune district, according to the Irrigation department of the city, are filled up to the 100% mark.
