A student of college in Kolkata had been arrested on Saturday for uploading the obscene pictures of her friend on a popular social networking site earlier in the year. But later she was released on bail.

According to the police the pictures were uploaded on a site and she had also made a few disparaging comments on her physical appearance back in May. Both the complainant and the accused were from a prominent college in South Kolkata. An investigator said that the accused was a student of English Honors.

In an investigation it was revealed that the IP address was originally owned by a youth who revealed that the girl had asked him a data card on his ID since she had no ID or documents to submit. She had lied to the youth, who sold internet data cards, that she hailed from Jharkhand. The police had traced the girl and had learned that she had uploaded the pictures with the help of the card from the youth deliberately.
