Diesel price to be hiked in two months

As if the prices are too low for the common man who is struggling to barely survive with the exorbitant and gouging prices of everyday needs, the government has decided to wring his neck a little further by making plans to increase the price of diesel. This plan pitched by the government would take shape and become effective within a period of two months.

Economic Advisory Council Chairman to the Prime Minister, C Rangarajan had announced that a hike had been planned which would be implemented anytime within two months.

He also added that it was merely a recommendation on the part of the Council and that it was not mandatory that the government follows the decision by saying that the final word "rests with the government" on the issue of finalizing the price hike.

With the present inflation, how necessary is a hike on the prices of diesel? Weighing out the woes of the common man and the losses incurred, if any, by the government with the current prices of the fuel, the government should ensure that the common man is not troubled with the hike.
