North east people in Bangalore continue to leave for their home states in fear of possible attacks on them even after the government assuring that complete protection would be given to them besides arresting five persons who were allegedly spreading false news. The chief minister Jagadish Shettar, who was in Delhi on Friday, met the union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde. He assured the home minister that all steps were taken to ensure complete protection to north east people.
Thousands of people from north east work at several hotels in Bangalore while many work as security guards. Also, there's a significant number of north east students in the city. And worried over the rumours that north east people would be attacked after Ramadan to avenge Assam riots, scores of people have been leaving Bangalore. On Friday and Saturday too many people left for their home states and the reports states that at least 30,000 persons left Bangalore so far.
