Con men arrested after duping elderly at bank

The Chembur police had recently caught hold of 5 people who were duping the elderly people and construction workers in the bank after they go the banks for money transactions. The gang were caught red handedly while trying to dupe a few customers in the Chembur, Union Bank of India.

Police said that the gang Rau Singh (22), Mantri Chavan (27), Raju Bhangar (22) and Vikram Singh (22) and Shankar Bind (25) were known to target the old customers and construction laborers at the bank by telling them that they would help them count the money and

Police said that the gang -- Raju Singh (22), Mantri Chavan (27), Raju Bhangar (22), Vikram Singh (22) and Uma Shankar Bind (25) targetted senior citizens and migrant laborers after gaining their trust to help in counting money and slip away with the money.

They use the same trick for all their cons. After gaining the trust of their prey they act like they are in a hurry and handover the money nicely wrapped in a handkerchief which actually has nothing but trash papers. Immediately after they walk away with the money which could be anything between Rs 10000 to Rs 20000. The are no where to be seen by the time the fooled realilize their folly.

The accused 5 have been booked under a cheating case and have been detained in the police custody till 31st of July. Over Rs10,000 in cash was seized from them apart from two bundles of trash papers that were wrapped nicely.

The police appealed to everyone that no strangers should be entertained in the bank or outside the bank when they have money. They initially seem nice as they are acquainting with you but it is not until they run away do you understand their true nature they said.
