New batch of pilgrims start to Amarnath

On Thursday, a new batch of pilgrims, 530 of them, had started on their holy journey to the Amarnath Shrine in the south Kashmir Himalayas with tight security measures.

There were 401 men, 122 women, 7 Children left in 27 vehicles from a base camp in Bhagawati Nagar, Jammu a few minutes before 6 am.
The yatra convoy had already passed Chenani on the Jammu Srinagar Highway traveling towards the base camps of Pahalgam in kashmir Valley.

Including the fresh batch the total number of pilgrims to the holy shrine in Jammu had left on their onward journey.

A batch of 702 pilgrims had started for Buddha Amarnath which is located in Poonch district from the Bhagawati Nagar base camp in Jammu in 18 vehicles.
