 Man caught after stealing iPhone and camera at IGI Airport

A man was caught and arrested after he stole an iPhone and a digital camera from an electronics store before he was to board the flight to Bangalore, the police said.

The youth resides in Kalkaji and was stopped in his tracks near the boarding gate only minutes before he boarded the flight to Bangalore, the police said.

The incident occurred at around 4:10 pm when the alleged accused came to the store and purchased a hair straightener worth Rs 1,995.

While leaving he resorted to shoplifting stealing valuables like an iPhone costing Rs 50,900 and a camera that costs Rs 13,900. He then put them in the hand baggage and left without getting them billed.

Staff noticed that the electronics were stolen and rushed to the boarding gates. The suspect also changed into an yellow T-shirt from a Pink T-shirt and was caught at the boarding gate 42 when is hand bag was checked. Both the items were recovered and the thief was handed over to the police with the evidence in the CCTV footage in the shop.

Police added that he was booked for theft.
