As the United Progressive Alliance is celebrating the victory of the 13th President of India, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, the 12th president Pratibha Patil is gearing up for addressing the farewell meeting at the Central Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan. Pratibha Patil will be replaced by Pranab Mukherjee, who will swear on July 25 at 11 am. Notably, Pranab Mukherjee has created a history in Bengal politics by becoming the first person from West Bengal to adorn the country's coveted seat.
Meanwhile, Pratibha Patil, who will be given a send-off today, has already given a farewell at Rajbhavan on Sunday evening. The prime minister Manmohan Singh, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, BJP senior leader LK Advani, other leaders and Congress big wigs took part in the farewell ceremony hosted by Pratibha Patil. And today at 5 pm, Patil would address the gathering, which would be her official farewell speech.
