E Yantra- IIT-B's new platform to scout for young talent

E Yantra, the Pan India Robotics Competition, launched by IIT Bombay on Tuesday could be helpful in finding the solution to fill the potholes.

Among the numerous tasks that the students would be asked to perform with the help of robots, one would be to design a program or modify an available program with the help of a robot designed by IIT Bombay. The event aims at attracting the yound students to develop robot based programs and applications that can be used in everyday activity like agriculture, household maintenance, city maintenance, service industries, defence among many others.

The entry to the program would be through a written entrance test conducted to shortlist eligible candidates and group them under 120 teams in the country with 4 members per team. All the teams would be provided basic training after which they would be assigned tasks of different themes.

The Grand Finale of the even would be held in 2013 Techfest of IIT B. Professor Arya said “As the project allows the students to work on an existing open source code base and a commodity robot the fest could be interesting to students from different branches like CSE, IT and even electrical engineering,
