Mamatha's Task Force, to check vegetable prices, in action

The sky rocketing prices of the vegetables in the local markets of Kolkata are soon to drop down to affordable rates with Mamatha Banerjee's new task force in action. Reportedly the prices were increased to 5 times the prices in less than 10 days creating panic among the middle and lower classes.

The task force would raid all the local markets and check for uniformity of the prices all across the city. This decision was fuelled by the shocking revelations after Mamatha herself participated in the raids on Tuesday and found that the price hike was artificial, caused by the middlemen and the traders.

The task force would be aided by the enforcement branch of the police to conduct surprise raids and put a check to the prices. With the news of strict action in effect, the fear among the retailers and traders has caused the prices of vegetables to come down as much as Rs.10 per kilo. Locals still complain that the prices of green chillies and potatoes aren't affordable yet.

A single raid has brought down the soaring prices of green chillies from Rs. 180-200 a kilo to an affordable price of Rs. 100. The prices are expected to droop down further as farmers have reported to have sold green chillies for a meagre price of Rs. 20 -30 only.
