Centre likely to give explantion on PIL against petro prices hike

The Central Government is likely to file a reply in the Bombay High Court today on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL), which stated that the recent hike on petroleum was illegal. The PIL filed by Rajendra Phanse in Bombay High Court mentioned that petrol prices were hiked all of a sudden after budget sessions concluded. Since there was no approval from the parliament, the hike in petrol prices was illegal, mentioned the petitioner.

He has also stressed that there was no uniformity in petroleum prices as the prices per litre are different at different parts of India. The High Court, which accepted the PIL, sought Centre's reply over the same.
