Yoga & sports for MBBS students

Don't think it would be enough if you have enough brains to swallow huge books in order to become a medical doctor, you need to burn the extra fat and twist your body too to become a doctor hereafter. Yoga and sports are now not limited to yoga trainers and therapists, but to even young doctors as Medical Council of India has planned to include yoga and sports as a part of the curriculum.

The recent regulations released by the council make it mandatory that all undergraduate medical students (MBBS) should undergo yoga sessions that consume four per cent of teaching hours in the first two years of MBBS.

A senior member of MCI has said that the MBBS students will be taught as to how to stay fit and healthy. Yoga and sports would be helpful in making the students more active, he added. Further, MCI has also made it mandatory to undergo a foundation course up to two months for all the students who get selected to pursue MBBS.

Meanwhile, the academicians have welcomed the new modifications to the MBBS syllabus although MBBS aspirants are unlikely to welcome yoga and sports mandatory.
