Now MPs can build Railway stations where ever they want

A special privilege has been given to the members of the parliament by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. The MPs can sponsor the construction of railway stations on popular routs so that people residing in the areas can board and alight. However, MPs need to sponsor for the construction of such railway stations from the annual budget of five crore rupees each that’s allotted to them.

Now that the law makers got this privilege, they are likely to use even this as one of the tools to attract voters. Apparently MPs would promise they would construction a railway station when they need votes.

Anyway, it’s still not sure whether all trains such as Rajdhani and Shatabdi expresses would halt at such stations. (Phani)
