Cops stumble upon kidney racket in UP, searching for missing

The Uttar Pradesh Police launched out on searching for a man who was found missing and during the process found that he had been kept by a gang. Incidentally which led itself into the trap laid by the cops on Sunday was arrested and the arrested include a teacher and a student. The gang used to lure especially poor to a hospital and get their kidneys surgically removed. They used to pay their victims something between Rs 1-1.5 lakh. And sell the organs for lucrative amounts to other states.

The four accused — identified as Hari Shankar Maurya, Dilip Nigam, Vinod Dubey and Harish Prajapati — were arrested from near the Pakri Pul and several fake papers, seals, a CPU and a computer have also been recovered from their possession. The astonishing point is one of the accused is a school teacher while one is a Class 9 student. The arrested four people told the cops that so far they had sweet talked to seven people and sold off their kidneys to a hospital in Chandigarh.

The police got lucky with them while investigating the disappearance of a certain Dinesh Bhattacharya who went missing from December 19. As the Lucknow police investigation on the missing Aashiana resident widened, the cops stumbled on the kidney racket. Dinesh was last seen in the company of the four accused persons. Later he was released from their captivity.
