A former top adviser to President Barack Obama has revealed that the US had warned Pakistan of dangerous consequences if terror attacks are repeated against India.
Answering questions on the Charlie Rose show on the PBS news network in Washington, Gen (Rtd) James Jones, who was the National Security Adviser to President Barack Obama from January 2009 to October 2010, said the warning was conveyed to Pakistan several times after the 2008 Mumbai terror attack.
He said the Pakistani leaders were warned of dangerous consequences as it would be difficult to restrain India from attacking Pakistan if another terror attack was generated from the Pakistani soil.
“We told the Pakistanis that we can not hold back Dr Singh in the event of another terror attack on Indian soil from Pakistan,” he said answering questions.
Ending up the show, Jones praised Singh for maintaining calm and patience in the aftermath of the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks. (JUBS)
