The Government Railway Police (GRP) of the Bhopal circle took into custody a bag filled with Rs Ten lakh from the berth on which Sandeep Dixit, Lok Sabha member and son of Delhi CM Sheila Dixit was traveling in the AC First class coach of Hazrat Nizamuddin - Bhopal Express, when it reached the Habibganj Railway station on Thursday morning.
The Congress MP was travelling from Delhi and reached Bhopal in the morning. Mr.Sandeep denied saying he had nothing to do with the bag.
But later a person named Jayesh Mathur, an architect, claiming to be a friend of the MP, contacted the Railway police seeking the bag. He said that he was traveling in the AC second class coach but was not feeling safe there and hence he had given the bag to Dixit, who was travelling in H1 coach. However, Dixit forgot to take the bag with him when he left his seat, he added. The police seized the money and refused to hand it over to him.
GRP officials informed that the bag was deposited by the coach attendant Bhagwan Das, who discovered it on the MP’s berth, while he was on his usual round of getting the linen back from each berth. Das opened the bag and found bundles of currency notes of Rs 1000, along with some medicines in the bag. Immediately he rushed to the GRP. The bag contained Rs. Ten Lakhs. The bag is in the GRP custody. The loyalty of Bhagwan Das had to be appreciated in the context.
