CBI, investigating the 2G spectrum case, today informed the Supreme Court that it has not given any clean chit to the former Minister and DMK MP Mr Dayanidhi Maran in the case so far.
Observing that its submission to the court during the last hearing was totally misreported in a section of the media, the CBI counsel said it only submitted that so far they had not found any proof to say that Mr Maran had used force and coercion on AIRCEL to sell itself to the Malaysian based Maxis group.
CBI counsel Mr Venugopal took objection to the statement of the NGO, Centre for Public Interest Litigation (CPIL) that the CBI investigation was less than honest in the case.
“The points in the status report, filed on September 2, were totally misreported and misinterpreted by the media,” Mr Venugopal told the division bench consisting of justices G S Singhvi and A K Ganguly.
