No proof of Maran role so far in 2G : CBI

DayanidhiMaranCBI today informed the Supreme Court that Arun Shourie and the late Pramod Mahajan, who worked as the telecom ministers in the NDA Regime had violated the norms and the then finance minister Mr Jaswant Singh would be examined soon in this connection.

CBI also told the apex court that the element of coercion on the part of Dayanidhi Maran who worked as the telecom minister for three years from May 2004 in the sale of Aircel to Malaysia-based Maxis group did not surface so far in their investigation.

Senior advocate K K Venugopal, appearing for CBI, however, told the apex court that the company which took over Aircel was in contact with Dayanidhi Maran, a DMK MP and his brother at the time of the deal.

The counsel assured that the probe would be completed by the end of this month.
