This seems to be the season for aircrafts to skid off runways as being witnessed for the last few days.
A Turkish Airways aircraft, which landed at the Mumbai airport early this morning from Istanbul with 97 passengers on board, skidded off the runway giving scare to passengers. Reports said the aircraft, an airbus 340-300, landed at the airport around 4.10 am and then veered off the runway.
Airport officials and staff attended to the problem immediately and made arrangements for the safe deplaning of all the passengers. Because of the incident, arrival and departures of other flights were delayed by half an hour and two flights were diverted.
On Wednesday, an Air India plane from Jeddah with 286 passengers and crew on board landed under emergency conditions at the Mumbai airport. On Monday, a Gulf Air plane with 137 passengers had skidded off the runway and veered off into the mud grass at Kochi airport soon after its landing.
