Kolkata remembers Rabindranath Tagore

didiWest Bengal capital Kolkata remembered the Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore on Monday on his 70th death anniversary and paid rich homage to the great poet.

School children and youngsters, braving heavy downpour, conducted peaceful rallies and processions across the city and Chief Minister Mamatha Banerjee also took part in one of the programmes.

School children recited Tagore’s songs during the rallies and garlanded his statues. Mamata Banerjee led the procession of school children from Harish Park near her Kalighat residence and joined in singing ‘Aguner Parashmani’.

Several Ministers also joined the processions and rallies in different parts of the city.
