Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who underwent surgery in an American hospital on July 4 for an undisclosed medical ailment, has recovered satisfactorily and was moved out of the ICU.
Revealing this to media persons in Delhi this morning, congress General Secretary Janardhan Dwivedi said Sonia was treated for 24 hours in the ICU after the surgery but now she was moved out of it.
“The family of Sonia Gandhi has expressed its gratitude to all those who have wished her speedy recovery through messages,” he said.
The congress president was advised rest for a minimum of two to three weeks and she has constituted a committee to look after party affairs in her absence. Her son and party general secretary Rahul Gandhi, Mr. Dwivedi, her political secretary Ahmed Patel and Defence Minister A.K. Antony are the members of the committee.
