On the instructions of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal, the Haridwar district administration today shifted the fasting yoga guru Baba Ram Dev to the Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences in Dehra Dun.

 

Senior district revenue officials came to the Patanjali Yogapeeth, the fasting camp of Ram Dev in Haridwar, with a heavy police force and took him on a stretcher to the hospital amid objections by his devotees.

 

Even as the devotees and supporters clashed with the police, the ashram authorities advised restraint to the crowd allowing the Baba to be taken to the hospital.

 

Doctors who examined the Baba this morning advised immediate hospitalization of Ram Dev as his condition deteriorated completely. Ram Dev began his fast on June 4 at Delhi first and shifted the venue to Hardwar as the Delhi police forcibly evicted his fasting camp at Ramlila Maidan.
