The DMK leadership, putting up a brave front, said today that the party will fight the CBI charge sheet against chief minister and party president M Karunanidhi’s daughter Kanimozhi and the the Kalaingar TV managing director Sharad Kumar in the 2G Spectrum scam legally.
The 30-member high level committee of the DMK, which met at its head quarters in Chennai, said there was an attempt to defame Karunanidhi and the party as well.
Karunanidhi told journalists after the meeting that the party’s legal team will seek anticipatory bail for Kanimozhi and Sharad Kumar. “We will face it legally,” he said simply.
The high level body of the DMK passed four resolutions including the one that said efforts were on to tarnish the image of DMK and its leader Karunanidhi by some media houses. “Their aim is to create political differences among the UPA allies,” said the resolution.
Reports indicated that Karunanidhi first wanted to snap ties with congress after the filing of the charge-sheet but was prevailed upon not to do so by his sons and senior leaders of the party.
