Tamil Nadu chief minister M. Karunanidhi’s daughter and DMK MP, Ms. Kanimozhi today appeared before the CBI special court in Delhi and applied for bail while her lawyer Ram Jethmalani defended her saying that the entire conspiracy in the 2G spectrum scam was hatched by former telecom minister A Raja.
She appeared before the court following summons after the investigating CBI officials named her as co-accused in the second charge sheet submitted on April 25.
Along with Kanimozhi, Managing director of Kalaignar TV Sharad Kumar also appeared in court. She may be arrested by the CBI if the court denies her bail application.
Vinod Goenka of Swan Telecom, Sanjay Chandra of Unitech and three officials of Reliance ADAG, Gautam Doshi, Hari Nair and Surendra Pipara along with the main accused and former minister A. Raja, were also present in the court today when Kanimozhi made her appearance.
Raja’s personal aide RK Chandolia, former telecom secretary Siddhartha Behura and Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Balwa, who find their names in the charge sheet, were also in court.
